"NOT FOR SALE"

2020 VISION.2

November 4, 2016

In Early November 2016, just as the Paris Agreement entered force, scientists released a new set of findings on the Arctic ecosystem, a natural regulator of climate on earth. Rapidly melting ice caps, rising sea levels and eroding coastal areas are set to begin a rapid, surprise shift that will represent an unprecedented acceleration of climate change causing island nations, coastal cities and the world as a whole to begin urgent preparation for potentially catastrophic and irreversible weather patterns. A 35% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions, 66% reduction in energy consumption and 55% reduction in water consumption along with the fibers of recycled plastic and organic cotton make the "2020 VISION.2: NOT FOR SALE" shirt.

Released April 22, 2016

This past November, world leaders gathered in Paris for COP 21. Over the stretch of two weeks, discussions led to the Paris Agreement, the agreement between nations to begin the process of cutting carbon emissions in order to keep global warming temperatures under two degrees Celsius. This agreement is on its way to becoming the first ever legally binding agreement between nations regarding climate change. On Earth Day, April 22nd, the UN in New York opened the agreement for signatures. The agreement dictates that 55 countries that account for at least 55% of emissions will have to sign off by April 21st, 2017.

If ratified, the agreement will become active and legally binding globally beginning in 2020.
